                     The Listos Program - March 29-30, 2014 (9am to 5pm) - Maple Hall

Listos is a basic emergency and disaster readiness public education program for Spanish-speaking populations.

Listos was a direct result of an Aware & Prepare Initiative roundtable discussion between community leaders and community based organizations within Santa Barbara County, that work with Non-English-speaking populations. The topic of the discussion was “Non-English Speaking Populations in Emergency and Disaster Situations.” As a follow-up to this roundtable, and since the specific area of Spanish speakers and disaster preparedness was scarcely being addressed, Aware & Prepare initiated the development of a basic community readiness pilot program for Spanish speaking populations.

SPPD/Y.E.S. Unit

The Police Department is fortunate to have members from the Listos Program come to Maple Hall on March 29-30, 2014 ( 9am to 5pm) and provide Listos Train-the-Trainer class. The program is tailored to meet the needs of  our Spanish-speaking community and the materials will only be in Spanish.  This program is not intended to replace our Spanish CERT program, but to give the community a better opportunity to familiarize themselves with disaster preparedness and then take Spanish CERT if they would like to learn more technical skills. Personnel from the Y.E.S. unit will be a part of this program.
