Reserve Officers

The San Pablo Police Department is actively seeking Level 1 Reserve Peace Officers. These positions permit exceptional career exposure and growth in the law enforcement field. Candidates must be prepared to work in a highly charged urban environment in the most diverse community in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Reserve Officer Program is a community service based volunteer law enforcement unit. Reserve Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; control traffic and investigate vehicle accidents; enforce state and local traffic regulations, laws and ordinances; respond to call-outs for city emergencies; and perform related work as assigned or required.

The Department provides uniforms and safety equipment to individuals selected as Reserve Police Officers. Insurance coverage for specific circumstances relating to employment is supplied by the Police Employees Association.

All Reserve Officers are required to volunteer 16 hours per month in addition to attending a monthly Reserve Officer meeting and mandatory departmental training in defensive tactics and range qualifications. The testing process for participation in the Reserve Officer Program is the same as that for full-time sworn Police Officers. This process includes, but is not limited to, background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical screening, and oral interview.

Please contact the Department at (510) 215-3130 for additional information.
