Business and Multi-Family Waste Services

San Pablo businesses and multi-family properties are eligible to participate in the curbside recycling and organics programs and some are required to have service (see State Waste Laws section below). These services will allow businesses to decrease the amount of solid waste sent to the landfill.

Solid Waste Management

The City of San Pablo’s solid waste, recycling and composting services are provided by two agreements with Republic Services:

  1.  a collection franchise agreement (and amendments) managed by the City of San Pablo; and
  2.  a post-collection agreement managed by the West Contra Costa Integrated Waste Management Authority (“RecycleMore”). RecycleMore is a joint exercise of powers authority representing west county municipalities.

The collection franchise agreement includes the collection of trash, recyclables, compost, and bulky items from residents and businesses. The post-collection agreement includes transfer, transport, and disposal of solid waste, processing of recycling and green waste, operation of the Household Hazardous Waste facility, and education and outreach requirements.
