Work Completed This Week
Ghilotti Brothers, Inc. (GBI), the prime contractor for the project, started excavation and material removal for installation of retaining walls A and B. GBI also ground down the existing asphalt pavement road surface along the west side of San Pablo Avenue from Rivers Street to Robert Miller Drive in preparation for construction of new curb, gutter and sidewalk.
AVAR, the retaining wall subcontractor, tested production nails as well as additional verification nails and all passed. AVAR also placed shotcrete along the top lift of the soil nail wall.
MBE, the electrical subcontractor, started trenching and installing conduit for new lighting and electrical system along the west side of San Pablo Avenue.
Work Forecast for Next Week
GBI will continue with grading work for installation of retaining walls A and B. GBI will also continue with grading for the new curb, gutter and sidewalk along the west side of San Pablo Avenue from Rivers Street to Robert Miller Drive. GBI will clear and grub above the soil nail wall area and excavate the excess soil to prepare for construction of the drainage ditch above the soil nail wall.
AVAR will continue with production nails once GBI completes excavation work for the next wall area.
MBE will continue with installation of electrical system for lights and signals.
